AMD's Bulldozer Architecture: Overclocking Efficiency Explored
AMD’s FX processor line-up was supposedly designed with efficiency in mind, according to AMD. We're putting this claim to the test, assessing the Bulldozer architecture at a number of different clock rates and comparing the results to Intel's CPUs.
Multi-Threaded Efficiency Test
Multi-threaded applications yield similar results. As the measurements show, a system with lower CPU voltage winds up slightly slower (by two seconds), though this is not noticeable. However, energy efficiency makes a leap forward. In contrast to that, an overclocked system doesn't do your power bill any favors.
