THG's Holiday Buyer's Guide: Second Edition

Kensington - FlyFan

Many readers e-mailed us to let us know that they prefer the Kensington FlyFan over the Kensington FlyLight.

We didn't even try to tally the number of e-mails that we received asking, "Why didn't you choose the FlyFan over the FlyLight in your first holiday products review?" To be quite honest, we didn't anticipate that readers would take us so seriously on our holiday shopping product suggestions. Although we have used the Kensington USB-powered FlyFan upon occasion (can anyone one say "plugged into the front port of my computer at the last LAN party I attended?"), it isn't a product that we would normally recommend. However, as one of our readers pointed out, "Nothing beats the distraction that the FlyFan can create in a boring meeting that you are stuck attending!" There is not that much to report about the FlyFan, other than to say that it is reasonably quiet and it doesn't seem to add excessive drain on your notebook battery. Note that there is no guard on the fan itself, and this can be dangerous... or, perhaps that is part of the attraction beyond the fact that it is able to circulate air. With prices for the FlyFan as low as $21 US, it is worth considering for the person who needs more air.
