Apple Confirms New Product Event for October 23

By - Source: Tom's Hardware US

Seven days and counting.

Apple has just confirmed the much-rumored October 23 event the tech industry has been talking about for a fortnight. Cupertino this morning sent out invitations to the tech press featuring a colorful background, the top half of Apple's famous logo, and the tag line: "We've got a little more to show you."

The Apple rumor mill has long talked about an iPad mini, a 7-inch device designed to play baby brother to Apple's already successful iPad. However, over the last few days, there's been mention of a few other products making their way onto the billing for this upcoming event. According to this week's news, Apple could also introduce us to a new 13-inch MacBook with Retina display. This morning, word on the street was that Apple was also going to be adding a new Mac mini on October 23.

Tune in next Tuesday, when Apple will unravel the mystery. The event is set to take place at 10 a.m. (Pacific) at the California Theater in San Jose, California.

To late... I was tired of waiting for the new iMac so I went back to the windows side of the fence. I just bought a XPS 8500 with a 27" monitor.

Watch Apple stock jump on the news. Curious thing is that Apple is entering an established market and will be fighting existing products that many say are better than the assumed iPad mini.
But I love the competition and freedom of choice. If we, consumers, want 7' tablet, we now have a good selection of eco system and devices, not marketing gimmicks.

A smaller Macbook Pro would be interesting. I have yet to try an Apple computer, but I was very tempted by the latest Air model, it was actually competitively priced against similar PC's.

If they're announcing a large, 16:10 monitor with the pixel densities of their retina screens, I'm in for 2. That would be a unique item on the market that would have no competition for a while.
