Samsung, LG Philips pushing widescreen monitor panels
Both Samsung Electronics and LG.Philips LCD plan to roll out more models of widescreen monitor panels in the third quarter of 2006 to push the proportion of their widescreen monitor panels, according to the Korean-language Electronic Times, Seoul.
Samsung aims to increase the production proportion of its widescreen monitor panels to 17% (1.253 million units) of overall monitor panels in the third quarter, up from 1% in the first quarter of 2005 and 10% in the first quarter of 2006, while LG.Philips LCD plans to see the segment rising to 26% of its overall monitor panel shipments in the third quarter of 2006, up from 10% in 2005 and 16% in the first half of 2006, the paper said.
