Four 975X Motherboards For Core 2 Duo

Intel D975XBX: Sophisticated And Quiet

Feature Overview

Intel respects users with legacy devices by providing both serial and parallel ports. The board uses the ICH7R and thus offers four Serial ATA/300 ports, but also has a Silicon Image controller that provides four more serial storage ports.

The PCI Express slot configuration is rather special: there are three x16 slots that can all accommodate PCI Express graphics cards, but their performance varies. If you install a single graphics card into the first slot, it will be powered by 16 lanes; if a second graphics adapter is installed, both slots will run in x8 mode. The third slot is always powered by four PCI Express lanes and is quick enough to run a third graphics card (so you can install up to six displays) or a storage adapter.
