16 Multi-Function Inkjet Printers

Epson Stylus CX7000F All-in-One Inkjet Printer

Unlike the RX620, the CX7000F does not put a premium on photo handling capabilities - nor does it lack fax ability, either. This makes the $80-100 CX7000F much more of a middle-of-the-road MCF printer, with features and functions to match. It offers respectable print and copy speeds of 27 ppm for black and color pages, and up to 20 ppm for faxing, thanks to its 33.6 kbps fax modem. It can even handle faxes and photo printing from memory cards or PictBridge attached devices without PC assistance.

The CX7000F does it all: print, fax, and copy, at a rock-bottom price.

Maximum resolution for color output from this printer is 5760x1440. It provides 1200x2400 dpi scanning as well. It even offers automatic fit-to-page reduction and enlargement when copying originals through the flatbed scanner. Memory cards supported include Compact Flash, Secure Digital (SD), Microdrive, xD-Picture card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MagicGate Memory Stick and SmartMedia. A front PictBridge port permits printing from suitably compatible digital cameras and cell phones and both color and black-and-white faxing are supported.

Photo print and paper sizes supported are extensive, with borderless photos up to 8.5" x 11" and A4 stock supported, and plain paper sizes up to 8.5" x 44" (manual feed only). This unit supports only a USB 2.0 interface for PC attachment, but works with Windows Vista, all XP versions, 2000, Me and 98SE, as well as with Mac OS X 10.2.8, 10.3.9 and through 10.4.x versions. Bundled software includes printer drivers, Web to Page, Epson Scan, ArcSoft PhotoImpression 5 and ABBYY FineReader Spring Plus OCR. Like most Epson devices, the CX7000F is Energy Star compliant.
