The first BB10 phone, the Z10, has been on sale in the UK and Canada for a couple of monthsand enjoyed a rather successful launch in both countries. Still, despite being announced back in January, it has yet to go on sale in the United States. BlackBerry said we could expect the device to land in the USA in March, and with March upon us, you might be wondering where exactly this phone has gotten to.
AT&T today announced that the device will be on sale on Friday, the 22nd of March, which is less than a fortnight away at this stage. Pre-orders will be kicking off tomorrow and the device will be priced at $199.99 on a two-year contract.
"AT&T customers were the first to experience BlackBerry smartphones and services in the U.S. and we are thrilled to bring the next evolution, the BlackBerry Z10, to the nation's fastest 4G LTE network," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices and Developer Services, AT&T Mobility.
"Customers who have grown to love the tried and true BlackBerry experience will continue to enjoy the easy typing and the secure platform they expect with a fresh platform that lets them get more out of their smartphone with easy access to all their messages in BlackBerry Hub."
The Z10 packs a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU, a 4.2-inch display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on board storage, an 8-megapixel camera in the back, a 2-megapixel camera up front. Be sure to check out our live blog of the event, as well as our unboxing, and our first impressions of the device.
If you're a T-Mobile business customer, you can snag the phone today, while non-business customers will have to wait until the end of the month.
