As if the rumors of the upcoming Sony Xperia Z Ultra weren't enough, a newly leaked benchmark now suggests that the phone will shatter the world record for fastest phone on the market. Not only that, but if all the supposed specifications are true, the Sony Xperia ZU will set a new standard for the high-end phone market worldwide, both in terms of quality and features.
We'll start with the CPU, as the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 is said to be clocked at 2.2 GHz and outperforms basically any other phone on the market. Among the collection of bruised egos is Samsung's Galaxy S4 octo-core processor, which was beaten by the Xperia ZU by almost 800 points on the AnTuTu benchmarking app. To keep up with the power requirements, Sony has packed in a 3,000 mAh battery.
The 6.4 inch X-Reality display would take advantage of SoC and bring the resolution to Full HD 1080p, resulting in a 342 ppi pixel density. Backing up the SoC would be 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage expandable through MicroSD up to 64 GB, and a rear 8 MP Exmos RS camera with a supporting forward facing 1.3 Mpx lens. Connectivity could include WiFi, Near Field Communication (NFC) and Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL), with 4G LTE and HSPA+ to be expected.
As if you haven't had enough, the device might be IP55 and IP58 certified, meaning it would be dust resistant and waterproof up to a meter. A final image suggests that the phone might be delivered with a stylus, and if not, would allow other stylus-like objects to draw on the screen with remarkable accuracy (and maybe a few scratches). While all these facts are yet to be confirmed, we are awaiting the June 25 Sony Launch event in Munich with baited breath.
