Super Talent has announced the arrival of two new hybrid storage solutions, the PP4192C12H and the PP4192C23H. The first of the lot is a unit with what we can assume to be a 2.5" 1 TB hard drive, while the latter is one which carries a 2 TB 3.5" hard drive. Both of the units carry a 192 GB caching SSD, which will allow the units to reach sequential read and write speeds of up to 800 MB/s. Of course, the standard SATA3 interface cannot provide this sort of bandwidth, so the units are driven through a PCIe interface. The idea of these units is to bring large storage to SSDs, while still being able to maintain reasonable performance.
The drives will be plug-and-play compatible, meaning that no drives will be needed to use them. This will allow them to be used in not only desktops, but also in NAS solutions and servers.
Super Talent gave no word on when the units would be coming to shelves, nor did it tell us anything about the pricing.
