Archos 101 XS 2 Tablet to Cost £250 in UK

Archos today announced its latest Gen11 tablet, the Archos 101 XS 2, which will be made available in the United States starting this December for a meager price of $249 USD with the Coverboard included. Not a bad price for a 10.1 inch tablet considering that the Nexus 10 starts at $399 and the 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HDX starts at $379 USD. So what about shoppers in the United Kingdom? How much will they pay?

Unfortunately, it's quite a bit more expensive for UK consumers. (Hands up, who's surprised?) Though $249 equates to roughly £155 by today's exchange rates, it look likes Archos is just switching out the dollar sign for a pound sign. According to Pocket-Lint, the device will be available from Archos' web store for £249.99. It is scheduled to arrive in the United Kingdom this December, though we don't have anything more specific than that as far as a release date is concerned.

According to the specs, this tablet sports a 10.1 inch IPS screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution, backed by a SoC with four Cortex-A9 cores clocked at 1.6 GHz and four Mali 400 MP4 GPU cores, 2 GB of RAM, and Google's Android 4.2 "Jelly Bean," which has full access to Google's services. The tablet also provides 16 GB of internal storage (some of which is eaten by the OS), and a microSD card slot providing up to 64 GB of extra storage.

You forgot tax! UK prices are listed with tax, US prices without. $249 is more like £190 once you take tax into account. Still not a great deal for us in Britain, mind you, but worth pointing out as everyone always forgets about tax.
