'Dying Light' Grows With 'The Following' Expansion, Enhanced Edition Update

Last year, Techland introduced Dying Light, an open-world, first-person action game where you played as Kyle Crane, an agent sent to the zombie-infested city of Harran. One year later, the developers decided to add more content to the world of Dying Light with a new expansion called The Following.

This latest addition takes you to the outback of Harran, where you encounter a new group of residents. However, the area also includes a mysterious cult, and you must uncover its secrets.

The new outback area changes the way you travel. Instead of utilizing your parkour skills to jump across roofs and scale walls, you’ll drive in dirt buggies across the vast landscape. These buggies can be customized with additional weapons and attachments, but you can also make it visually unique with decals and paint. These vehicles are obviously the fastest method of travel across the large area that the developers mentioned is the “size of all Dying Light maps combined.” In addition to the story, you’ll also receive a series of new quests, characters and collectibles throughout the world.

If you don’t want to get the expansion, new content is still available for the base game as part of the Enhanced Edition update. This includes the Legendary Levels, a new method of extending your skills and abilities. You also get new guns and melee weapons, as well as a crossbow. You also have a new set of parkour animations that should help you flee from the improved zombie and human enemy AIs.

Obviously, the Enhanced Edition update is free to all who bought the base game. The Following expansion pack will cost you an additional $19.99, but if you purchased the season pass, the expansion is free. There’s also a new version of Dying Light available now, which includes The Following and the Enhanced Edition update, for $59.99.
