PC Version Of 'Need for Speed' Delayed, More Time Needed For Unlocked Frame Rates
The Need for Speed series is getting a reboot, and fans will be able to play it in a few months when it comes out on November 3 in North America and November 5 for the rest of the world. Unfortunately, those using a PC will have to wait quite a bit longer: Spring 2016 to be exact.
Development company Ghost Games said that the reason for the delay was that PC gamers made it well-known that they wanted unlocked frame rates for the game. The request is sensible considering the overwhelming power of today's graphics cards readily available for PCs compared to the GPUs in the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
However, unlocked frame rates aren't the only thing the developers will work on for the PC version. Visual improvements are in the works, and any of the content updates provided to console players in the months preceding the PC release date will be added as well, to give players equal footing across all platforms.
The decision to delay the game to allow unlocked frame rates is a sensible step. After the disaster that was the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight, Ghost Games wants to avoid that mishap altogether. Instead of rushing a job in two months' time, the developers now have an extra four to five months to give the game the polish and stability that PC gamers expect.
As for the console version, development is nearing its end, yet a few issues need to be tested in the form of a closed beta. It will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users in the coming weeks and will test the game's online servers prior to launch.

TallestJon96 @dstart3 yeah haha, I remember his scathing analysis. Tying physics, speeds, time, etc. to a frame-rate is pretty damn backwards (at least on PC). Hopefully the heavy backlash against games like that, and batman will get devs back on the right track. For example, mad max is performing exemplary.Reply
I'm ok to wait for this, just as long as it turns out very well. It might even earn them a sale from me. -
whimseh Why is this a thing now? PC gamers don't have to make anything clear, I guess 30 FPS is "standard" now because modern garbage consoles can only handle that. Pretty sure it doesn't take months to add or fix this, they just want it to be console exclusive without pissing people off.Reply -

Some games can't even hold a steady 30fps.
