Samsung today said that is mass-producing what the firm claims is the world's fastest graphics memory: Clocked at 900 MHz, the GDDR3 memory chips are 50 percent faster than the previous generation 600 MHz memory.
Samsung ships the devices as 512 Mbit devices, enabling graphics card manufacturers to build 256 MByte and 512 MByte cards.
Nvidia is currently shipping the memory in its recently announced GeForce 7800 GTX 512 graphics cards.
