Benchmark Results: StarCraft II
The $2000 PC’s performance lead starts out big in StarCraft II, but diminishes at 2560x1600. It loses this one test at its stock clock rate compared to the $1000 machine.
The $500 machine looks strong enough in its own right, but does sometimes fail to achieve half of the $1000 system's performance.
The comparison between the $1000 and $2000 PCs remains consistent as we shift to StarCraft II’s highest quality settings. However, Paul's $500 configuration falls even further below its 50% performance target. The $500 gaming PC appears strong enough if we ignore the mid-range build. Unfortunately, a spread this large could spell trouble for its value comparison.
