Is Woot a legit site?
Yes, Woot is 100% legitimate. It is not a scam site or a shady third-party reseller. In fact, Woot is actually owned by Amazon.
If you're looking at Woot and see a $1,000 OLED TV selling for $400, it is completely normal to feel sceptical. The site's design, weird name, and low prices definitely look too good to be true. However, the site is entirely safe, and if you are an Amazon Prime member, you can even log in with your Prime to get free shipping.
Are Woot returns free?
It depends on why you are returning the item. If the item arrives damaged, defective, or unworn, the return is free, and Woot will provide a prepaid shipping label. If you are returning the item simply because you changed your mind, the return is not free. Woot allows you to return most items within 30 days of delivery due to buyer's remorse.
Does Woot have a search function?
No, if you are browsing Woot on your computer and pulling your hair out trying to find a search bar, you aren't going crazy the Woot website intentionally does not have one.
Because Woot is a daily deal clearance site, their stock rotates constantly. Their business model is actually built around making you scroll through the categories in the hopes that you'll spot a crazy deal on something you didn't even know you needed.
Are Woot products new?
Yes, Woot does sell brand-new products, but that is not all they sell. Because Woot is Amazon’s clearance and liquidation business, its inventory is a mix of brand-new overstock items, customer returns, and repaired tech.
If you are shopping on Woot, one of the most important things you must do before adding an item to your cart is check the condition label located right beneath the price. There are 4 main conditions on Woot! which are:
New: These are brand-new, unopened items in their original retail packaging. They are typically overstock items, meaning the manufacturer or Amazon simply had too many sitting in a warehouse or discontinued models from last year.
Open Box: These items look and function like new, but the box seal has been broken. Usually, this means a customer bought it, opened it, and returned it to Amazon without ever actually using it. Woot inspects these items to ensure they are fully functional before selling them at a discount.
Factory Refurbished: These are items that had a defect, were returned, and sent to the original manufacturer for refurbishment, such as Samsung, Apple, or HP. The manufacturer repaired the item, tested it and repackaged it.
Scratch & Dent: These are used items that have been repaired and tested by Woot's own technicians or a third-party refurbisher, rather than the original manufacturer. If you see S&D, it means the item is fully functional but has noticeable cosmetic marks, like scratches on a laptop lid or dents on the casing. These are usually the absolute cheapest items on the site, but they generally only have a 90-day warranty.
Woot Saving Tips
Link Your Amazon Prime Account: This is the single most important rule of shopping on Woot! If you buy discounted PC components or heavy electronics without Prime, Woot charges a $6 shipping fee. However, because Woot is owned by Amazon, Amazon Prime members get free standard shipping on every single order. Just click 'Login with Amazon' at checkout.
Download the Woot App: Woot frequently runs App-sclusives (app-only deals) and special promo days where app users get an extra 10% to 20% off their total basket so its well worth downloading.
Buy Scratch & Dent: If you are building a home office or budget gaming setup and don't care about cosmetics or the odd mark here or there, look for items labelled S&D or Scratch and Dent. These are refurbished laptops, tablets, and cheap PC monitors that have noticeable cosmetic wear like a scratched lid but are 100% functionally tested. Because they look a little rough, they are heavily discounted compared to standard factory-refurbished tech.
Shop the Clearance: Don't just scroll the homepage, the real hidden gems are in the dedicated Clearance section. This is where Woot dumps the last remaining inventory of overstock tech that didn't sell during a daily deal. Prices here are discounted even further than normal just to get rid of the items in the warehouse.
The Woot-Off: A Woot-Off is a 24-hour, lightening sale where a new deal launches every 30 minutes or as soon as the previous item sells out. If you want the absolute lowest prices on clearance tech, you need to watch the site closely during a Woot-Off.
Tip: Woot-Offs are completely unannounced, so turn on push notifications in the Woot app so you don't miss them!
The "Bag of Crap": Weird name aside, the BOC is a $10 mystery box that occasionally appears during Woot-Offs or special events. While Woot openly admits that the box will likely contain literal garbage like a single shoe or random batteries, some lucky Wooters report receiving brand-new laptops, watches, and gaming consoles hidden inside. It is a massive gamble but its a fun way to chance a great deal.
How to use a Woot Promo Code
- Choose one of our Woot coupons you'd like to use and click " Get Code" to reveal it.
- Copy the code for later, then head to the Woot website and browse their products.
- Browse the site or the Woot app and add your desired tech, apparel, or tools to your shopping cart.
- Click the cart icon in the top-right corner, then select "Proceed to Checkout."
- You will be prompted to log in. Always choose the Log in with Amazon option if you are a Prime member to make sure your free standard shipping is automatically applied!
- Proceed past the shipping address and payment selection pages to the final order screen. Near your payment information and your order total, you will see a box labelled 'Promo Code'.
- Paste your code exactly as it is written into this box and click "Apply." The page will refresh, and you will see the discount taken from your final total before you hit the final "Place Order" button.
If your Woot promo code isn't applying, don't panic! Because Woot's inventory is already so cheap, they can be more strict than other sites. Here are some possible reasons for your Woot Promo Code not working:
App-Only Codes: This is the most common reason a code fails. Woot frequently issues promo codes for users who check out via the official Woot mobile app. If you are using a desktop browser, the code won't work.
Category Exclusives: Many codes are locked to specific categories and tabs. For example, a "20% off" code might only be valid on apparel and will not apply to a refurbished laptop in your cart. Make sure you read the T&Cs just in case.
