At the outset of this review, I posed the question, “What can you get for the money?” For $750, there’s Samsung’s S40FG75, a 40-inch extreme-curve ultra-wide VA panel with 5K2K resolution and 180 Hz. It delivers a very immersive experience. Then I asked, “Why would you pay $100 more for a 27-inch QHD flat panel?” Because if it’s the S27FG60, it delivers another kind of experience altogether, one with stunning contrast, rich color, and quickness that makes gaming better.

The S27FG60 joins an elite group of hyper-fast OLED displays from Aorus, MSI, and Asus that run at 500 Hz. Also in this bunch are a 480 Hz screen from LG and a 360 Hz one from Philips that still holds the record for the lowest input lag I’ve ever measured. But that doesn’t mean the S27FG60 is deficient, far from it in fact. It delivers the same addictive gameplay as other fast OLEDs while rendering highly saturated and accurate color that’s spot-on out of the box, no calibration needed here.

It also features premium build quality and convenient USB ports on a rear-facing input panel along with an OSD joystick for quick and easy adjustments. LED lighting and a slick silver aesthetic dial up a look that matches its flagship status.

If you have $850 to spend, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 S27FG60 is hard to beat. While you can spend less on another extreme display like the S40FG75, there’s no denying the wonder of speedy OLED. Players looking to up their game should definitely check it out.

When I saw the title I wondered what makes the G6 better than the G8 I just bought. Then I read the specs. Short of the 500Hz I am not sure why this is being recommended over the G8? The G8 is 4K and I just bought the 32" for $899.
