Rumor Points to Apple TV Software Update September 18
Could it be that Apple's not done showing off its new wares?
Apple yesterday announced that iOS 7 will be released on September 18, but the company have something else in the works for that date? According to the latest rumors, we may also see an Apple TV software update, too.
AlllThingsD cites people familiar with Apple's plans that say Cupertino's set-top box will get an "internal overhaul" on September 18. This will include an update to AirPlay that will let you play your purchased content on other people's Apple TVs via the cloud. No word on what else we can expect in this software refresh for Apple TV, but it looks like the current generation of hardware is here to stay.
Apple first showed off iOS 7 in June, at WWDC, and is finally releasing it ahead of its new iPhones next week. The newest iteration of Apple's mobile operating system features iTunes Radio, Control Center, Notification Center, improved camera and photo applications, AirDrop for iOS, improved multitasking, a new version of Safari, a revamped version of Siri, and more. It is compatible with Phone 4 and up, iPad 2 and up, iPad mini, and the 5th generation iPod touch.
