Apple finally has touchscreen laptops. At an event in Los Angeles, the company detailed its new MacBook Pros featuring OLED XDR displays that you can control with your fingers.

The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros are available for pre-order now and will ship on Nov. 6. The 14-incher will start at $2,899, while the 16-incher will start at $3,399. The systems use Apple's existing M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, and go up to 16TB of storage and 128GB of memory.

    Good.

They should have done this 16 years ago, instead they continued to ignore a feature requested by their user base for no good reason.

I couldn't find any pixel dimensions or screen resolution anywhere.
I've been wondering if they shared some production lines with iPad screens -- but all iPad panels seem to be smaller.

I will agree with Steve Jobs, and to me the twist into Macs with touchscreen is another nail. Mac displays are notoriously good, but also difficult to keep clean and without oily spots for a long time. many users have issues with keyboard imprinting on the screen. And now, there will be fingers all over the screen.
I have used laptops with touchscreen and only version that is actually useful if it is a sort of 2-in-1, that can be reshaped into a tablet aka Yoga from Lenovo.
The rest of implementations are a gimmick with no useful scenarios for work, or even entertainment. You need 2 hands anyways to perform well with a laptop. Moving you hand from keyboard to a screen is exhausting, and I know, I am using iPad Pro with a keyboard case. But thank God I bought a keyboard with a trackpad.
I will be happy to learn if there are actual usecases when touchscreen on a laptop is better than a trackpad, but use cases where somehow tablet is worse.
