Benchmark Results: Productivity
3ds Max shows identical performance between the Digital Storm Gaming Dominator and Maingear Ephex, in spite of the Dominator’s slightly higher CPU clock. Possible reasons include a small gain for the Ephex’ higher memory speed, or that the clock speed difference is simply too small to show up in a 20-second benchmark.
Digital Storm leads the AVG anti-virus test, in spite of its far slower hard drive. It appears that virus scans are limited more by the CPU’s ability to interpret data than by the speed at which it can retrieve data.
Maingear’s expensive system wins both file compression tests in spite of its slower clock speed. This could be due to its faster hard drive or faster RAM.
