Look Me In The Eyes
For the face-tracking system to work properly, the camera must be aligned opposite the user and at face height. If you have a CRT monitor big enough, you can set it on top of it. If you have an LCD monitor, you have to use the stand between the base and the top of the Orbit.
You have to pull hard to get the top of the QuickCam off its base, so you get that nasty feeling you're going to break something. Then all of a sudden it stops resisting and the two bits come apart. Then you have to set up the stand, which gives the camera a light and lissome look. It has a useful foolproof system to stop you setting it up the wrong way.
