Workstation Power: ATi's FireGL X1 under Linux
Conclusion & Table Of Features
ATi's FireGL X1 offers a performance jump in construction and CAD the likes of which wasn't even considered possible until recently. Even this pre-production sample with its pre-release driver made its rival's flagships look old by comparison, allowing it to come away with first place.
But the performance will not be the only thing causing headaches at Nvidia's and 3Dlabs' headquarters - the price is another point in the card's favor. At $900 US or €999, the FireGL X1 is barely twice as expensive as a higher-end, feature filled consumer graphics card. Truly, high performance at low cost!
