Gateway drops price of 21" widescreen LCD

Gateway today said that it has reduced the price of its FPD2185W monitor, which the firm claims to be the best selling 21" widescreen display worldwide, by $100 to $500. The display was one of the first monitors to be marketed with a high-definition content protection (HDCP) chip - which is required, if users want to watch HD video under Windows Vista. The chip will also allow content owners to set restrictions on how content will be able to be viewed and copied.
