Amazon Page for Nexus 5 Bumpers Points to Oct. 30 Release
Are we less than two weeks away from the Nexus 5 release?
The Nexus 5 talk has been ramping up over the last couple of months and now that the rumored launch month is upon us, the leaks are getting a little bit more interesting. Yesterday, we had hints from the @KitKat Twitter account about a possible launch date for Android 4.4, and now Amazon is giving us another hefty hint at the release date of the phone itself.
PhoneArena reports that Amazon Italy now has a listing for rubber bumpers for the Nexus 5. These are third party cases, so it's possible these have nothing to do with the official launch, but we can't imagine accessory resellers would put goods on sale unless there were customers willing to buy their wares. The ship date for this brand of bumper is October 30, which fits in nicely with @KitKat's hints that the phone/Android 4.4 would be announced on October 28.
The Nexus 5 is said to be the biggest Nexus phone yet. Leaked specs have mentioned a screen measuring five inches as well as talk of a Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB of RAM and, of course, Android KitKat. Thanks to leaked specs from last week, we now know that the Nexus 5 will pack a 4.95-inch 1,920 x 1,080 IPS display, the aforementioned quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor (clocked to 2.3GHz), 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera with a 1.3-megapixel lens up front, the same OIS present on LG's G2, a 2300mAh battery, up to 32 GB of storage, and support for CDMA, GSM, WCDMA, and LTE.
