Google Launching Android KitKat Oct. 28: Twitter Rumors

Google and Nestle have been promoting the next version of Android, KitKat, for a long time. Still, despite all their talk of Android 4.4, neither has given a release date. However, it seems the Nestle Twitter account may be dishing out some clues regarding the release of Android KitKat.

Tweets from the Nestle @KitKat Twitter account have people wondering if the Android KitKat release may be coming on October 28. The first hint is a picture of a giant Android KitKat along with the caption, "Everybody Dance Now!" The second is a picture of the phrase, "This is it," spelled out in KitKat fingers along with the caption, "Sometimes you have to look for the signs." Pocket-lint points out that the song Everybody Dance Now was released by C+C Music Factory, originally known as The 28th Street Crew. The second tweet, the site reasons, could be a reference to Michael Jackson's This Is It movie, which hit stores on October 28.

It might seem like a bit of a reach, but considering last year's Nexus 4 was announced on October 29, people are getting excited over these tweets. Add to Nestle's apparent slip that the OS would launch this month, and it seems an October release is a sure thing. For reference, while the Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus both enjoyed October unveilings (October 29 and October 19, respectively), the Nexus S and Nexus One were both unveiled in December.
