Samsung Launches Series 7 Gaming Laptop

The company announced what it calls the "ultimate" (off-the-shelf) gaming notebook. The Series 7 comes equipped with a 2.3 GHz Intel i7-3610QM Ivy Bridge processor, 16 GB of memory, 1.5 TB HDD space, as well as Nvidia GeForce GTX675M graphics. As a 17.3-inch (1920x1080) system, it is common sense to assume that it is not an especially light device: Samsung says the Series 7 weighs 13.3 lbs.

Additional standard features include a Blu-ray drive, two USB 3 ports, a 2 MP webcam as well as 4 watt speakers with an integrated sub-woofer.

Samsung says the Series 7 can be run in four different modes - a gaming mode with pulsating, red light that highlights keyboard keys and speakers, a general mode with optimizations for productivity software, a quiet mode with disabled sounds and the fan turned off, as well as a power saver mode in which "only the most critical parts of the processor are running".

The Series 7 is a sale now for $1900.

NOPE! Not with the 7970m gpu out for laptops. Far better, and with the option to have 2x4 RAM chips, ends up with the same price tag.

I still say that's pretty sweet. Although I think it weighs more than my old dell E1705. Gosh, was that thing heavy.

"Gaming" and "Laptop" shouldn’t be written in the same sentence.
