SuperTalent Introduces M.2 Form Factor SSDs

Super Talent is introducing a new series of SSDs, and not just any SSDs. These NGFF SSDs are based on the M.2 form factor.

The units come in two versions. The DX1s, measuring 80 mm in length, and the ST1s that measure 42 mm long. The former run with a SATA3 interface and have read and write speeds of up to 480 MB/s and 400 MB/s, respectively. The ST1 units run off a SATA2 interface and feature read speeds of up to 250 MB/s and write speeds up to 80 MB/s. Due to the even smaller form factor, these SSDs are useful for ultraportables and embedded applications. The units will come in capacities ranging from 16 GB to 256 GB.

"Super Talent's NGFF SSDs are the perfect solution for high speed non-volatile storage to be used in upcoming high performance laptops. Our NGFF SSDs are sure to keep mobile device applications running at peak performance!" --Shimon, Vice President of Engineering at Super Talent Technology.

So far there is no word on what the units will cost, though based on the report, we expect the units to hit shelves soon.
