Lenovo Case Mod Appears to be Made of Ice
This is pretty cool.
We got to see some pretty interesting case mod concepts at CES, despite it being a mostly consumer electronics oriented show.
One of the cases "showcased" at the Lenovo exhibit at Digital Experience was a case mode that looks as if it was made from ice. It was made by James Fislar, who turned a mild-mannered IdeaCentre K320 into something that would not look out of place inside Superman's Fortress of Solitude.
Check out James' introduction of the machine and then have a look at the pictures below!

Looks.... cool.
Normally I think case mods are too over the top, but that is uhh... pretty cool. (no pun intended)
They have more mods listed on their website. The website appears to be sponsored by Lenovo.

Looks.... cool.
Booo, bad joke, but +1 XD
James Fislar needs to chill out with the case mods.
They should have added "masking tape" to the "Mod Highlights" list.
Very nice, not a fan of Lenovo though (no puns included sorry)
Cool case brah
I like it. I would remove the metal of the chassis and put something transparent to complete the design
How do you go about getting sponsored by a company like he did?
Not sure about the case but I'll take the happy new year fan.
yea it looks cool (no pun intended)
@tsnorquist I only did 4 last year< i might slow down to 3 this year
@christop It was a a open contest to submit a design and i drew one up using google sketchup and they pick it and the fun began.
Hell will freeze I ever before I ever get one of those. You could say I am pretty cold towards this case. Just thinking about this one gives me the chills.
I'll think I'll put this one on ice. I'm sure it'll meet a frosty reception if it ever goes to retail.

He probably took it on his own to make the mod then found a Lenovo rep that would look at it...
OR, his sister married someone that knows someone that is high up in the company that was a nice guy/gal and put in a good word.
Yeah, thats it, the second one...
That's so COOL!
Looks.... cool.
Icey what you did there...

That's a wonderful looking case mod.

Still wouldn't buy or make it though.

Most of the people on the mod-sites I've frequented who have managed it basically made a second job out of emails and letter-writing. I know www.bit-tech.net or www.thebestcasescenario.com had a guide on how to get sponsored, but I can't find it.
Essentially, you generally have to have some mods under your belt, with worklogs and followers. If you can convince them that A.) you have a proven track-record of finishing mods and B.) can get their product name exposure...you might get them to sponsor you to some degree.
Might.
i guess the mod is the icing on the cake for the show, but can it play bad company`s frostbite engine. or will it freeze up on you? if it do it got a heart made of ice. hope fully its running the new buldozzer so it can plow true the icy comments. if so Intel is soon to get a cold shoulder.
Very nice, not a fan of Lenovo though (no puns included sorry)
I regret to inform you but your use of the word "fan" constitutes a pun.
GUILTY!!!
Here is the case work-log.
I want to be paid to mod cases... My dream job.
Sure I'm not handy with tools but I guess I can practice and get better.
Nice effects!
Is that a piece of scotch tape on the back?
Sweet mod though.
@cptnjarhead Funny you should ask lol its 3m double sided tape. I shipped the Mod to CES via FEd ex with fragile written all over it like 15 times. they flat out drop it on the front panel at some point and cracked and busted all the panels in about 15 spots, I had to glue Teh panles back together and need something to tack themtogether enough so they wouldn't move. now its cracked ice, which stills helps the over all ice effect
I'm so happy this whole thing turned into a pun contest
