eklipz330 GeekApprovedWhen a 500GB SSD hits $50, I'll think about buying one.lmao have fun with your hdd then, it's gonna be a long long time before this happensReply
it has never been a better time to move to SSD's than now. they pretty much saturate the Sata ports, and can be found for less than $2/gb
HDD's hit $2/gb in about 2003, and you could only find 500gb hdd's for $50 around 2007-2008 (i remember, cause thats when i built my pc)
so have fun waiting =] -
pcracer51 realistically waiting for $1/gig, should be in a couple of years. The hybrid technology of the seagate drive looked promising in the reviews and is a better choice for a cost conscious builder.Reply -
Wish I Was Wealthy I can't see any thing that I want on this list, but keep on chucking those lists up & maybe one day I will find some thing that I like to buy...Reply -

$50 for a 500GB SSD is pretty unreasonable at this point but don't overestimate SSDs either as they aren't perfect yet. For example two WD 500GB RE4 drives in Raid 0 perform incredibly well (Avg xfer is about 220MB/s and 12~13ms access times). So in reality, for run of the mill stuff like loading video games and what not the RE4 RAID 0 setup is much, much more bang for your buck than a SSD (500GBs for about $160 when compared to a 500GB SSD...esh, don't even wanna know that price). -
greenrider02 I posted that Crucial C300 deal in the forums last Friday... any credit coming my way? hahahaReply -
jqp10 A 1TB Samsung HD is .06/GBReply
This 128GB Crucial SSD is 1.56/GB
The first is amazing, the second is pretty good - but it is apples to oranges if you are using the SSD as you should at this point (boos drive for a desk top). For a laptop, well you are paying a premium anyway.
