Kingston offers 2 GB notebook memory modules
Kingston expanded its "Value RAM" mainstream notebook memory with 2 GB modules. The SO-DIMMs are available in 533 MHz (CAS 4, 5) and 667 MHz (CAS 4, 5) versions. Kingston hopes that especially the upcoming launch of Windows Vista, which will require at least 1 GB of main memory and - according to memory makers - will make a case for 2 GB of installed memory, will spur interest from computer users to upgrade their existing systems.
An SO-DIMM 2 GB memory module upgrade won't be cheap, with the 533 MHz version being priced at $590 and the 667 MHz module at $640. Kingston is also offering new 800 MHz modules for about $110 (512 MB) and $210 (1 GB).
