Benchmarks: Synthetic, Continued
3DMark doesn’t tell us much except that the 740G’s old graphics core is a Shader Model 2.0 part—too far gone to run Vantage. Nevertheless, Intel’s score here is hardly impressive considering what we’ve already seen from the AMD 790GX and 780G.
Sandra’s processor tests do a fair job showing off the theoretical strength of a quad-core solution. Likewise, the memory bandwidth benchmark demonstrates the extra oomph you get from 1066 MHz memory and AMD’s integrated memory controller. Intel’s G45 actually places last here—not a good sign for the potential of its gaming capabilities.
