MythTV Plug-ins

MythGame

What HTPC software suite would be complete without some form of nostalgic retro-gaming experience? Games originally on cartridge (such as 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System) are copied to PC in the form of a ROM file and replayed by use of a ROM emulator. For that reason, MythGame utilizes the ZSNES emulator to provide Super Nintendo (SNES) game play. Arcade games are made accessible through the X Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator (XMAME) where such game formats are available. Each of these game formats is of course subject to applicable copyright laws.

Additional material for MythGame - acquired separately - includes category/version catalogs, screenshots of many popular game titles, and arcade game background information all for use within the MythGame menu.

MythMusic

MythMusic is a simple graphical interface tie-in to the audio playback software subsystem in MythTV that's designed to provide transparent frontend control and management of a few common audio file formats. The MythMusic interface allows you to categorize, play and visualize three popular audio formats (FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, and MP3) or to create complex playlists composed of other playlists. Configuration occurs at two points: through the mythfrontend client setup dialogs, or directly within the MythMusic plug-in itself.

UI controls include the usual line-up: skip backward, skip forward, rewind, fast-forward, pause, stop and play. Additionally, the UI has options and sub-options for shuffle and repeat, and includes a button to edit playlist entries or activate a visualization component.
