New Mac Pros Said to be Launching in 2013

Tim Cook pledged to launch new models next year.

The first beta of OS X 10.8.3 has led to speculation that Apple is preparing to launch new Mac Pros in 2013.

The beta for the upcoming update to the Mac operating system contained driver support for the Radeon HD 7900 series of powerful graphics cards from Advanced Micro Devices.

AppleInsider suggests that due to the support for AMD's "Tahiti" GPUs in the next version of Mac OS, Apple is working on an updated Mac Pro.

To add credence to the speculation, back in June, Apple CEO Tim Cook promised graphics professionals and dedicated users of Apple's PC that new Mac Pros would be released in 2013.

The pledge came after consumers voiced their concern regarding Apple's possible exclusion of its workstation from its plans due to a shifted focus from Mac products to the iPhone and iPad lineup.

Meanwhile, Apple's redesigned, super thin 21.5-inch iMac will be available from Friday, while the 27-inch model launches in December.

    Its about time apple updated their mac pros. Right you it costs a whooping $2.5K for a quad-core nehalem xeon and a 5770. Talk about top of the line

    and with a whooping 6GB's of RAMthe Mac Pro is roughly $1700 over priced but hey its a Mac and plently love to overpay for their crap

    hell my 2 year old Asus G73Jw cost me 1500 back then and is still more powerful

    I'm shocks at how out dated the hardware in the mac pros are. No other company could sell 3 generation old hardware for $4500 and get away with it. When the new one's finally hit the GPU's will be 1 generation old, classic Apple.

    I would like to see the MBP GPU's upgraded as well. Would be nice to see the GF 675mx and 680MX in a rMBP. It'll never happen though.
