One of the many wearable gadgets we found interesting at CES this year was the Ring Mouse 2 from Genius. As the name states, it's a five-button mouse that can be worn on your finger, allowing the user to click, drag and four-way scroll on their PC or Mac right from their fingertips. Will it control Apple's upcoming iTV? Probably not.
Now available here in the States, the Ring Mouse 2 features a flexible rubber design so that it provides a better finger grip than the previous version while remaining comfortable next to flesh and bone. The "wearable tech" relies on a 2.4 GHz connection and a USB pico receiver, which can actually be stored within the ring itself when not in use. Users can move the ring up to 30 feet away from the receiver, making it a great tool for presentations.
According to Genius, this updated model sports a more modern, sleek design than its predecessor, and is offered in silver and titanium colors (sorry, no pink or purple). It also sports a rechargeable design that relies on an ultra-slim Li-ion battery, meaning it not only saves money on frequent battery changes, but also helps the gadget keep its slim figure. A battery indicator flashes blue when the ring mouse needs a recharge.
"Teachers and other education professionals can now easily navigate webpages or documents when lecturing or giving presentations, while business professionals now have an easy-to-use and portable alternative to laptop trackpads in space confined when traveling," the company said.
The Ring Mouse 2 is now finally available here in the U.S. and in Canada for $49.99. It's compatible with Windows XP to Windows 8, and Mac OS X 10.4 or later. For more information about the Ring Mouse 2, head here.
