T-Mobile Joins List of Companies with an October 29 Event
What could it be?
The end of this month is looking pretty crowded as far as tech events are concerned. Apple just announced what's presumed to be an iPad event for next Tuesday, Microsoft is launching Windows 8 and its Surface tablet next Friday, and the following week will see Google, and Microsoft both hold cell phone events. Today, T-Mobile threw its hat in the ring and announced plans to hold its own event at the end of the month. On the same day as Google and Microsoft, of course.
T-Mobile this afternoon sent out invitations for an evening event for Monday, October 29. The company hasn't revealed very little about the event, only specifying that it is a product launch. The most likely possibility is that T-Mobile wants to be among the first out the gate with a Windows Phone 8 device and so is announcing something the very day Windows Phone 8 is launched. Of course, there's always the off chance that the Nexus device Google has got planned for that day could be compatible with T-Mobile's network.
The invite itself lends no hints as to what we should expect. There's no little Android silhouette or subtle 8's anywhere. Place your bets now, folks.

Ragnar-Kon g00fysmileyi'll go for a wildcard, they got the iphone?That's what I was thinking, but I doubt it. None of the iPhones can run on T-Mobile's older 3G networks, and I don't think T-Mobile has gotten very far with the conversion from their old PCS network to HSPA+.Reply

Old 3G? I can't plainly tell you, working for T-Mobile, that they offer 4G, and have for a long time. But I'm sure you know what you're talking about. *rolls eyes*
Anyway, T-Mobile had a promo a while back for New York, NY and Atlanta, GA where they were asking customers with iPhones to have them unlocked and bring them to T-Mobile's network and they would give you $100. It was a test market, mind you. Wanting to see if the device was actually popular enough that they should even consider selling them. Surprise, surprise, it wasn't! When asking customers about it they would simply say "I don't want an iPhone, that's why I'm with T-Mobile."
I can't comment on this event because I already know the answer but I can state that T-Mobile's network is more than capable of supporting the iPhone.
