Adding to its current line of Wildfire SSDs, Patriot Memory introduced on Monday its second-generation Wildfire Pro and Wildfire SE SSDs. These take advantage of both the SATA 3 (6 Gb/s) connector and SandForce's SF-2281 processor, allowing sequential read speeds up to 550 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 500 MB/s.
"This launch of our second generation Wildfire Pro and Wildfire SE brings enhanced overprovisioning, wear leveling and speed to the brand family," said William Lai, Patriot Memory’s Product Manager. "Future looking, Patriot Memory will continue innovation to deliver true enthusiast performance for demanding professional applications."
There's only a slight difference between the Pro and SE models. As previously stated, both use the SandForce 2281 controller and an SATA 3 interface. Their similarities also include TRIM support, best-in-class EEC protection, DuraClass, DuraWrite, and a MTBF of 1,500,000 hours.
However the Pro model is geared towards professional applications, offering a 5-year warranty. It arrives in only two capacities: 100 GB and 200 GB. The SE version on the other hand is more mainstream, focused on the high-end enthusiast and offering a shorter 3-year warranty. This model comes in 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB capacities.
Actual pricing and availability wasn't provided in Patriot Memory's announcement, so stay tuned.
