Acer announced two new phones at the Mobile World Congress, the Liquid Zest and the Liquid Jade 2.
Acer Liquid Zest (4G)
The Liquid Zest, which also has an LTE variant called the Liquid Zest 4G, comes with a 5” IPS screen with an 1280x720 resolution, an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 lens and auto-focus, and a 5MP camera with a wide-angle lens for better capturing selfies. The Liquid Zest is powered by an older quad-core 1.3 GHz, whereas the Liquid Zest 4G is powered by a newer quad-core 1.0 GHz processor with integrated LTE.
DTS Sound Studio is supported on the Liquid Zest, while DTS HD Premium Sound is available on the Liquid Zest 4G for an even bigger sound field and higher vocal clarity. The Liquid Zest will be available in April for 109 euro, and the Liquid Zest 4G will start shipping in May for 149 euro. Both will arrive in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) countries first.
Acer Liquid Jade 2
The Liquid Jade 2 has a larger 5.5” AMOLED display with Full HD (1920x1080) resolution that supports 100% of the NTSC color gamut, which covers an even bigger spectrum of colors than sRGB. What that means is the display should show quite life-like colors. The phone also has support for high-resolution audio with virtual surround sound powered by DTS Headphone:X.
The Liquid Jade 2 has a much higher-resolution 21MP rear camera compared to the Liquid Zest, and a much faster autofocus system, as well. It also supports 4k video recording. On the front, there’s an 8MP camera, which has an 84-degree wide angle lens and “Pause N Shoot” selfie mode.
The device comes with a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor (four Cortex-A53 cores and two Cortex-A57 cores), 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with up to 1 TB cloud storage.
Acer didn’t unveil when the higher-end Liquid Jade 2 will be available for sale, nor its price.
