Kingston started shipping the V310 SSD, its latest model in the SSDNow V300 Series. The SSDNow Series is a "value" line that emphasizes a low price to performance ratio. The V300 series is currently available in 60GB, 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB. The new V310 expands that to a single 960GB capacity SSD.
The V310 comes with a Phison 3108 controller and can reach read and write speeds up to 450 MB/s each. The V310 random 4k Read/Write are 40,000 and 20,000 IOPS, respectively, and received a PCMark 8 score of 4,700, according to Kingston. While these marks are not particularly impressive when compared to the competition, this is Kingston’s first SSD nearing 1TB capacity and is marketed as a value model for consumers needing more storage.
The V310 SSD comes as a single stand-alone drive or as a kit that includes cloning software and installation necessities. It is backed by an industry standard 3-year warranty.
While the V300 was regularly one of the cheapest SSDs you could buy, new V310 pricing has not been released, so we will wait and see how value oriented it truly is.
