Nvidia Releases Game Ready Drivers For 'Evolve'

Nvidia announced the release of new GeForce Game Ready drivers for the just-launched 4-vs-1 shooter from Turtle Rock Studios and 2K Games, Evolve. Nvidia customers can download the new drivers (version 347.52 WHQL) by heading to GeForce.com or through the GeForce Experience client. The new drivers include support for GeForce SLI and one-click game setting optimizations.

On Tuesday, Nvidia provided a few numbers to show what PC gamers with GeForce GPUs will likely see. For example, the GeForce GTX 970 should experience an improvement in performance of up to 13 percent in BioShock Infinite, up to 12 percent in Assassin's Creed Unity and up to 12 percent in GRID Autosport, all at a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Several of the same games also see an improvement at 2560 x 1440 and 3840 x 2160.

Note that the performance increase is based on a comparison between driver 347.25 and 347.52. The company also achieved these results using a rig packed with an Intel Core i7-5930K, an Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard, 16 GB of RAM and a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1.

Based on Crytek's CryEngine game engine, Evolve launched on Tuesday for the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The objective is simple: four "hunters" band together to take on a huge player-controlled monster. The game includes 12 playable Hunters, four different classes (Trapper, Support, Assault and Medic), three playable monsters, 16 maps and four game modes. Players level up and not only unlock additional characters, but new "perks," skins and upgrades.

"We've been working with 2K and Turtle Rock Studios to make Evolve awesome on the PC," wrote Nvidia's Brian Burke in a blog. "The game looks amazing with 4K graphics, works flawlessly with Nvidia DSR and can even be streamed to an Nvidia Shield. We are working closely with Turtle Rock Studios to add GameWorks features to Evolve in the very near future."

Nvidia updated the GeForce.com website with news that the new 347.52 WHQL drivers increase the performance in additional games such as Crysis 3, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Far Cry 4, THIEF, Battlefield 4, Shadow of Mordor, Tomb Raider, Alien: Isolation and a number of others. Several charts produced by Nvidia regarding the performance increases with the GeForce GTX 980, 970 and 960 can be accessed here.

The company noted on the GeForce website that the new drivers feature just-baked SLI profiles for Alone in the Dark: Illumination, Evolve, H1Z1, Saint's Row: Gat Out Of Hell, Total War: Attila and Triad Wars. SLI profiles for Black Desert, Dying Light and Heroes of the Storm have been updated.

"There are many more triple-A games to come in 2015, and we'll be ready and waiting for them with new Game Ready drivers," the GeForce site stated. "Included in each will be launch day performance optimizations, the usual tweaks, a variety of profiles, and the latest improvements for the many other games sitting in your Steam library."

Next, Nvidia will be releasing wave after wave of driver DLC so you can skin your monitors and GPUs and such. After, of course, charging an extortionate amount of money for lack of initial content.

Umm...The drivers and NV's attention to them, is FREE. NV haters...jeez. Why hate a company for releasing drivers ON TIME that help a card owner? NV doesn't charge you for your card either. The OEM does, you know, the company that actually makes the card you buy. Even then, it may be the store that jacks up the price. Comic...Fantasy.

He was being sarcastic because that is what is going on with Evolve.

Funny thing is that the damn game does not work with 21:9 monitors. Can barely even get going due to the menus being off the screen.

Evolve is looking pretty lackluster. The Nvidia issues are getting pretty bad too. Ramgate, the SWTOR issues, and the take off of FReesync over NVidias ripoff expensive version.

I'm REALLY hoping that Evolve is the game that finally teaches publishers that microtransactions and day-one DLC, etc, are all real scumbaggy monetization strategies. But people vote with their wallets, and for some reason, it's always the idiots that have the most votes.

The drivers come in 5 packages.

You can get the base model driver.
The PC Delux Driver, which includes extra skins
the PC enhanced Delux Driver with comes with 512 GB of additional RAM on your 970 and +1 FPS at low resolution
the PC monster delux Driver, which includes all the new skins, access to future driver updates, plus the +1 FPS enhancement and 512 GB of RAM on your 970
And the ultimate PC Delux Final Version which includes the driver update season pass, which gives slow performance gains over time, plus all of the previous versions of the driver, a digital book, and a free T-shirt that says "I'm rich, stupid or spoilt".

Let me know when they've shown MANY games running NOT-SO-FREE-SYNC ;) If it was just as good, surely we'd have seen it running games by now at just a month before monitors hit. They completely ignored games at CES. R&D isn't free. I'll be shocked to NOT see a premium on freesync also (maybe not as bad, but scalers cost, certification of products cost etc). You get what you pay for usually and NV R&D's a TRUE solution that works IN GAMES. We have yet to see what you get from AMD's side here and it only works on certain cards so not a huge market for monitor makers to chase for now anyway. Most users will require a card on both sides of this game, and a monitor also (though there are a LOT of 600series and up NV cards out there, so many might not need one on NV side for gpu).

Ramgate? LOL. Anandtech still looking for a corner case to show a change. Benchmarks say 970 customers are happy, and returns show the same (~5% and some of those are just BAD, not due to mem complaint). What are you going to do anyway, return it to upgrade to 980? It's not like perf sucks. That part is the same as when you bought it, and nobody knows for sure if they lied or just right hand didn't talk to left (no surprise, it happens in huge companies), even anandtech (loves amd, delays NV reviews etc, IE nexus 9) didn't think they lied.

Evolve is no different than BF4 when it hit. It happens. The biggest issue with evolve is dlc that makes the game $130 or so...LOL.

"Perhaps the biggest issue however isn’t with drivers or performance, but rather it’s DLC."
That isn't an NV problem. Just don't buy this game (or any game with day one DLC) :) $60 for the demo (IMHO), and another ~$70 for the rest of the game...ROFL. This crap needs to be boycotted until devs give this idea up or sell that game at $20, and another $40 for the rest of the game. I could possibly work with that, as a small dev might need cash quick to finish it all up, but not like it is now at $60-->130. Holy crap. As noted he had no problems with the game. Having said that, NV didn't make evolve (and AMD didn't make BF4, both tried to make them a bit better for their users, but that's it). Though I wish AMD/NV would get into the game MAKING market especially to kick off more great stuff on android that would push the hardware more (assuming AMD gets in there at some point).

Shut up companies fanboy. The last thing we need is a fanboy like you defending sleezy companies and bad business practices.

How much are being paid to say the crap you just said? On another though, you might just be stupid and defending these companies for free.
