Eight P35-DDR2 Motherboards Compared

BIOS And Overclocking

Gigabyte's FSB clock selection tops out at an incredible 700 MHz, which is probably more than 100 MHz higher than the board will ever reach. A wide range of CPU and DRAM voltages exceed what's necessary to reach the highest speed of Intel Core 2 Duo series processors and top-rated DDR2 memory. The widest-possible selection of FSB to DRAM ratios allow the highest bus speeds to be used with less-capable RAM.

The GA-P35-DQ6 is also compatible with earlier-generation processors, all the way back to Gallatin-core Pentium 4 Extremes.

The GA-P35-DQ6 is a slightly better overclocker than its DDR3 sibling, pushing our early Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 engineering sample processor to its maximum 3.46 GHz with ease, and reaching 459 MHz FSB clock (FSB1836) using a 6x multiplier on this FSB-resistant core.

The GA-P35-DQ6 contains the same enormous accessory kit as its previously-reviewed P35T sibling, highlighted by two dual-drive External SATA breakout plates.

Spreading its four USB 2.0 breakout connections across two plates means that anyone who configures this system with all its breakout adapters will be able to use only three of the motherboard's seven expansion slots.

The lowest online price for the Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 is around $240.
