First Episode Of 'Minecraft: Story Mode' Set For October 13 Release

Telltale Games is known for creating rich stories in its episodic games. Most recently, its latest project dived into the world of Game of Thrones. Now, it's finishing up development on a new game involving Minecraft, a game that didn't have a main storyline at release, and it's coming digitally on October 13.

On release day, players will be able to play the story's first episode, titled "The Order of the Stone." You take on the role of a male or female hero named Jesse and must traverse the various biomes and planes of the world in order to find the legendary Order of the Stone and save the world from destruction.

The first episode will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the Wii U. On the portable side, it's coming to iOS, Android and the PlayStation Vita. If you're willing to wait a few more days, you can grab the physical copy on October 27 (October 30 in Europe), which not only includes the first episode but the subsequent four episodes planned for the game.

Pricing has yet to be announced, but considering that past Telltale Games episodes are $5 each or $25 for an entire season of five episodes, it's likely that this game will cost a similar amount.

So making an episodic video game about a popular video game is going to be a good thing......

I really can't think of a reason for this to exist, other than Telltale is selling very well right now, and Microsoft has a two billion dollar investment to make good on.

well if i remember right, telltale borderlands is better than borderlands in terms of story and depending on who you ask, game play too, i would probably say gameplay is better, but i despise bullet sponge games, and thats what borderlands turns into at the high end.

tell tale is basically given a blank slate to do whatever they want with no prior lore or anything to to keep in mind, this is there game to make... though they probably have to keep it T or below.

So much for that promise that once you buy Minecraft you will get all the updates for free, forever.... While I realize this is a different game, it is still a spit in the face of the original developers intentions for Minecraft. I will NOT be buying this and supporting Microsoft as they ruin the spirit of a great game.

Its just amazing how many series they have taken on but they are not finishing them! Take "The Walking Dead" for an example. They left season 2 in a cliff hanger!

Mojang had this in the works before Microsoft came into the picture.
