The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful: 17" LCDs Reviewed
Samsung 710T/N
Following the commercial success of its 172X, Samsung is forging ahead with its brand-new 710T/N using the new Samsung TN 170EU-L11 panel.
One point ought to be mentioned first: Whereas the panel's specifications claim 13 ms, Samsung claims a response time of 12 ms on the product package. We'll check on this later.
The Model 710 is available in several versions:
- N: 12 ms, VGA only.
- V: 16 ms, VGA only.
- M: 25 ms (!), VGA, built-in microphone and speakers.
- T: 12 ms, DVI/VGA and pivot function.
- TM: 12 ms, DVI/VGA, pivot, built-in speakers and microphone.
In other words, be sure which version of the monitor you're interested in... Certain models can be hard to find depending on which country you're in, but the panel is identical in the N, T, and TM versions. The model we tested was the 710T.
