The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful: 17" LCDs Reviewed
Hyundai Q17+: Worthy Of Its Predecessors
The Hyundai Q17+ is of course an evolution of the famous Q17, fitted with the equally famous Hydis 20 ms panel. And as such, it has the demanding task of representing Hyundai's reputation within the community of demanding gamers. Rumors were rife about the use of an 8 ms, then a 10 ms panel in the Q17+. So the first surprise is the choice of the panel, a Samsung 170EU-L11 rated at 13 ms. Here again, the packaging mentions a response time of 12 ms, but that's inaccurate. It doesn't change much, since as far as we're concerned the manufacturer's specifications don't mean a lot. But given the fact that the ISO standard is already a far cry from representing reality in terms of response times, if the marketing also takes liberties with those official specifications, where are we headed? In any case, the Q17+ has a big reputation to live up to and has to convince those whose expectations it has raised.
