Oprah Promotes Microsoft's Surface ... With the iPad
Whoops?
Microsoft's Surface tablet launched at just the right time to make the most of the all-important holiday shopping season. Helping Microsoft along the way to a successful holiday season is daytime TV queen Oprah. Oprah yesterday tweeted her love for the device, stating she's already bought 12 as Christmas gifts. She even went as far as to use the hash tag 'FavouriteThings.' Unfortunately, Oprah's love for the surface hasn't quite surpassed for love of the iPad. At least when it comes to Twitter. The Next Web points out that the tweet in question was sent using Twitter for iPad. Oops.
In fact, this apparently isn't the first time Oprah has gushed over the Surface while tweeting from the comfort of her iPad. Gizmodo Australia points out that she's been talking up the Surface since it launched and Tweetbot shows Oprah (or the person running the account) is using an iPad. It's not a huge deal. Oprah could really love the Surface but the person running her Twitter may not have one (or isn't using it). Or, it could be because despite its massive launch and an even bigger marketing campaign, the Surface doesn't actually have a native Twitter client yet. Still, comments that Oprah prefers the Surface keyboard to the iPad might sound better if they weren't typed on the iPad.

leandrodafontoura Lol, clearly she go paid to do such a thing. Just like Miranda Kerr appearing in a Samsung Galaxy ad, when in real life she uses an iPhoneReply -

My standards aren't even that high...but at least have something interesting; I'd rather see "cat uses new MS surface"... -
mrmaia Were it the opposite, Tom's would be reporting "Even Oprah loves the iPad".Reply
As I'm not American I never got to see any of Oprah's programs, but nevertheless it's hard to understand why is she so influential on the internet. If she farts, there are always a ton of (non-celebrity) sites to promptly report it. Meh. -

It's because she controls (or controlled) a very powerful demographic when it came to sales. If a book was on her bookclub or she recommended a product, you can be assured that it would get a large bump in sales and renown, even if without it was an excellent product.
