Acer and Asustek notebook sales to Taiwan up 40-50% in 1Q

Acer and Asustek are expected to top sales of 50,000 notebooks in Taiwan in the first quarter of 2006, respectively, up 40-50% on-year, according to sources at domestic distribution channels. The sales growth estimate for the two vendors is in contrast to the slow demand in Taiwan's overall notebook market, which may experience a 30% sales drop on-year during the first quarter.
