HD 4850 Benchmarks, Continued
We didn’t test CoD4 with FSAA in our 8800 GS tests, and the HD 4850 handled 1600x1200 max details just fine. The HD 4850 leads by quite a bit and could easily have handled 4x FSAA also. We again see that although way above minimum spec, the single-core A64 4000+ is far from capable of handling max details in CoD4, even with the HD 4850. This is exactly the type of disappointment we are trying to prevent our readers from discovering on their own and with their own wallet.
There are interesting results seen here in Crysis with medium details. Once again, the single-core CPU struggles through the CPU test. But notice that in both the CPU and the GPU test, it is only with our highest clocked dual-core CPU that we see the HD 4850 pull away from the 8800 GS. With the slower two CPUs, results are always within one FPS.
We do not see the same results with high details that we saw with medium details. The HD 4850 leads in each test and allows us to see the X2 5600+ stay on top of the X2 4200+ in the CPU test. Notice in the GPU test, that while the HD 4850 leaves the 8800 GS far behind, we are still basically GPU limited at these settings and see little difference between the three CPUs.
