Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 200 SoC

Qualcomm has announced the new quadruplets joining their family of Snapdragon 200 system of chips. All four chips follow a 28 nm design and consist of either ARM's dual- or quad-core Cortex A7 CPUs. Together with the CPU comes the Adreno 302 graphics unit, which should be sufficient to run 720p resolution on almost any screen. These specs are very similar to the Snapdragon S4 Play SoC, which has the same CPU, but instead wields an Adreno 305 GPU.

While all four chipsets allow for native HSPA+ as well as 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, only the 8612 and 8212 have the quad-core 1.2 GHz CPUs. The other two models, 8612 and 8212, have the slower dual-core 1.2 GHz CPUs. We are promised that all the models also support soft-modem dual and triple SIM standby, so we are eager to see the phone models that will ship with any of these chipsets. Unfortunately, mere specifications are never enough to convey the amount of ingenuity, effort, time, and dedication that has been put into these chips, so we hope that the phone companies using these chips will do them justice.

My thought too. That would not be slower, just less parallel

So, same model numbers, same speeds, and a difference of quad core and dual core. I think there's a typo here.
