Apple Refreshes 13", 15" MacBook Pro Laptops

Apple announced on Wednesday that it has refreshed its line of Retina-based MacBook Pro laptops. They now sport faster processors, more memory in two configurations, and a lower price tag for the high-end 15-inch model.

According to Apple, the 15-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina display has two configurations. The $1,999 model starts with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (2.2 GHz, 3.4 GHz), 16 GB of memory, 256 GB of flash storage and Intel Iris Pro graphics. The $2,499 model starts with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (2.5 GHz, 3.7 GHz), 16 GB of memory, 512 GB of flash storage, Intel Iris Pro graphics and Nvidia's GeForce GT 750M GPU. Configuration options include faster Core i7 processors, and flash storage up to 1TB.

Next we have the 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina display. There are three baseline configurations, with the first sporting a starting price of $1,299 and featuring a dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (2.6 GHz, 3.1 GHz), 8 GB of memory, 128 GB of flash storage and Intel Iris graphics. The $1,499 model includes a dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (2.6 GHz, 3.1 GHz), 8 GB of memory, 256 GB of flash storage and Intel Iris graphics.

The third configuration, with a starting price of $1,799, includes a dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (2.8 GHz, 3.3 GHz), 8 GB of memory, 512 GB of flash storage and Intel Iris graphics. All three configurations can opt for a faster Core i5 processor, more memory (up to 16 GB) and flash storage up to 1 TB.

Finally, we have the 13-inch MacBook Pro that doesn't have a Retina display. This model has a starting price of $1,099, and includes a quad-core Intel Core i5 processor (2.5 GHz, 3.1 GHz), 4 GB of memory, Intel HD Graphics 4000 and a 500 GB hard drive.

"People love their MacBook Pro because of the thin and light, aluminum unibody design, beautiful Retina display, all day battery life and deep integration with OS X," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. "The MacBook Pro with Retina display gets even better with faster processors, more memory, more affordable configurations and a free upgrade to OS X Yosemite this fall."

iLife and iWork come free with every new Mac, as does OS X Mavericks, the "world's most advanced operating system". All six models can be customized and purchased here on Apple's online store.
