Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite Rumored for MWC 2014

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite can now be added to the long list of rumored devices for the up and coming Mobile World Convention 2014, to be held in Barcelona, Spain. According to Sammobile, this phone will fill a market gap between the previous Galaxy Grand and the recently announced Galaxy Grand 2, but will probably be aimed at the mid-range market.

The device (GT-I9060) is said to be almost identical to the Galaxy Grand, featuring a 5-inch WVGA screen, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory slot that is expandable to 64 GB. While the processor is getting double the cores, the 1.2 GHz quad-core will still have to make do with a 2,100 mAh battery, which in all likelihood will be the same as the one in the Galaxy Grand.

The defining aspects of the phone would probably be the 5 megapixel rear camera, the VGA forward facing camera, and the expected inclusion of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Given the specifications of the phone, we assume that it will have very few changes in order to market it internationally as a cheaper option to the Galaxy Grand 2. This solidifies the expectation for dual-SIM capabilities, which is highly desirable in countries such as China and India, where the market for mid-range phones is flourishing.

While this phone would fall neatly under the 'market flooding' label, at least Samsung has spiced up the colors with exciting and imaginative names, so they can be yours in the wide variety of "Midnight Black," "Lime Green," and "Orange." Pricing and availability will most likely be announced with confirmation of the device.
