It's Got It All

Inside the black housing is a PC that's almost ready to go. The motherboard, also made by AOpen, is based on the Intel 865 chipset for Pentium 4 processors. The two expansion slots (AGP and PCI) are occupied by a DVI/TV tuner card respectively. Drives, CPU and memory still have to be installed before the PC is ready for use. Assembling the XC Cube proved a piece of cake once the drive cages had been removed.

The barest minimum of computer hardware fits in the barebones.

Installing the CPU and memory couldn't be easier.

The drives and the card reader form a unit that can be simply pulled out.

An ADD card from AOpen takes care of S-Video and DVI output.

The built-in radio and TV card.

    "It's Got It All" - except it doesn't. VGA output? The connector that is going the way of the dinosaur is included, but no way to have DVI, no means of putting in HDMI. And the US market is heralding the end of regular TV.

    Perhaps the market they want is those who want to make a bit more use of their regular TV - but a DVD player will do that, or a converter that will display an HD signal on an older set. This doesn't do that, so why would I want it? If you have a reasonable response to that, I'd love to hear it.
