Google's New Nexus 7 Landing in UK in August
Sit tight.
Google on Wednesday took the wraps off of its brand new Nexus 7 tablet. We'd been hearing little tidbits of information about the device for weeks, months even, but now it's all out there in the open. The device will be priced at $229 and will go on sale in the United States on July 30. But what about the UK?
Last we heard, the device was headed for Carphone Warehouse in 16 GB and 32 GB capacities, though the company's system didn't mention when that might be. Now that the device is official, we have something of a better idea of when that might be. Google said yesterday that the device would arrive in the UK, among other countries, "in the coming weeks." No word on local pricing just yet, but expect it to be a touch pricier than the current model, given the U.S. price for the new model is $30 more expensive than the current generation.
The all new Nexus 7 features a 7.02-inch 1920x1200 display (323 ppi) with scratch-resistant Corning glass, a 1.5Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro with Adreno 320 400MHz graphics, 2 GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, 16 GB of storage, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz/5GHz) 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, NFC, a 3,950 mAH battery, and Micro USB with SlimPort-enabled (meaning it can output HDMI video and audio through the microUSB port thanks to DisplayPort technology and a special microUSB-to-HDMI adapter). The whole show is running on the newest release of Android, Android 4.3.
